Polyhymnia, daughter of Zeus and muse of song, was in a foul mood. For countless Eons she had selflessly given inspiration to mortals. Classical, rock, jazz, reggae, metal, she’d played a part in every musical movement since the first ape thought to
tap sticks together with a rhythm. Now music was losing it’s substance, its meaning. More and more mortals saw music as a simple distraction, a way to put aside the humdrum of their stressful lives feel happy in a mindless sort of way.
The muse would not stand for it. Music would make people feel again, even if it must evoke terror.
She decided to empower the lyrics of every song. Mortals will respect song once more.
