Alarms were set off across the globe- every government, corporation, and criminal organization who had the technology had been looking for something like this to happen for years. A dimensional rift opened above the Earth, and an object- small, perhaps
2.5 meters in length. It plummeted towards Earth, but there was no sign of it losing any mass on re-entry. It landed in a field near the town of Smallville (as some suspected it would).
The US government sent in there first contact team (which included special armament, which they believed could even take down Superman). The Society sent agents, as well- Luthor hoped to capture the alien vehicle (and any passenger) before the government
got there. The UN held a special assembly to talk about what might be happening, but no one paid much attention.
But first on the scene was the JLA- specifically Superman, flash, and Wonder Woman. Supergirl and Power Girl were on their way, as well.
The craft was red, and conical. There was no obvious means of propulsion- or even a window. Only through use of his microscopic vision could Superman even see the outline of a hatchway.
"Can you see inside?" asked Diana.
"No," replied Superman, "the material is impenetrable as lead- although it's not . It's not any alloy I've seen before. Although- it's similar to-"
"To the spacecraft that brought you here?'" finished Flash, one step ahead, as usual. Superman nodded.
They walked around the craft- although, to an observer, they would be a blur. The three speedsters automatically shifted into this faster pace when they were together- it saved time. On the other side of the ship was a symbol- one familiar to them all.
"By Hera! That's-"
"The El family crest. my family. But not quite. Do you see the sharper angle at the bottom- the rounded line at the top? It's close- but not the same."
They heard a rumble, a sortie of government VTOL jets neared.
"Task Force X is here, Supes" said Flash. "Want me to cause a few updrafts, keep them occupied for a bit?"
"No, Flash. I don't want to cause an incident. But keep an eye to the east. A cloaked plane just landed about 5 miles from here. It's some of Lex's associates, I think."
Flash began to "keep an eye"- running around the area so fast he was barely a blur. Any sign of movement and he'd be able to report instantly.
"Superman- look!" cried the amazon princess.
A seam had appeared in the hull. A panel retracted. And there appeared-
