The Wishing Stone skipped from universe to universe, as it did it quantumly clones itself by leaving copies of itself as it did and didn't land in the universe. It also cloned itself by landing in the same universe in different places in space/time at the same moment. Which only made sense with magic or quantum mechanics.

 Which was how the rock moved through the space-time continuum, sparking and flaming from the movement through the aether... till we see one of the universe where things have been branching out from the different possible landings. The rock landed on the head of one of the inhabitants of the world. A world of sword and sorcery, in a modern world. A world of magic and science, of humans and the fair folks.

 Of stone by day, warriors by night! Of Gargoyles!
