The remnants of Jasmine's power, the power to enslave any mortal just from merest sight or hearing (among other abilities), made its way to a universe, specifically, a galaxy at war.

 

 

In this universe, ancient machines called the Reapers attempted to harvest all life in the galaxy, believing them to have evolved too far.  They would take each species into themselves, making them into new Reapers.  Naturally, the inhabitants of the galaxy were fighting back, inspired by the efforts of the heroic Commander Shepard, who's charisma was almost as potent as Jasmine's own, even without powers.   

 

 

The Reapers, while being non-viable candidates to receive the immense power, became aware of it instantly.  They knew it would cause them trouble, and realized to their horror that due to the nature of this world, not only could mortals gain the power, but sapient machine life, such as Shepard's ally EDI or the Geth could become possessed by Jasmine's might.  They had to do something, but they weren't sure what...
