Abandoned Factory, Star City
Roy Harper and Mia Dearden, aka Red Arrow and Speedy, walked into the abandoned factory near the Star City waterfront. The place was your typical abandoned factory where all sorts of clandestine events took place. All with the exception of a metal table, chair and lap top computer with headphones next to it. Connor Hawke was already there waiting for them. He looked impatient, standing next to the table.
"About time you showed up. Now where are the other two? Black Canary called this mysterious meeting and she's nowhere to be found. Dad's usually the first one to show," Connor said, looking around.
"Maybe they're off saving lives," the Red Arrow pointed out, a smile playing on his face, "Maybe they're off somewhere on a date. Or maybe they're...you know..."
"Enough, Roy," Mia said, rolling her eyes, "Connor's right, though. It's not like Canary or Arrow to be late. Something must have happened."
"I just talked to Ollie, and you're right, Mia, something has come up. Rest assured, he can handle it himself," Black Canary said, stepping out of the shadows, surprising three heroes.
"How long were...you..." The Red Arrow stammered. His face was turning as red as his suit out of sheer embarrassment for his teasing of Connor, but was quickly cut off by Dinah.
"I called you all here because I believe that the mayor of Star City is corrupt. I have acquired an audio file that you all need to listen to. It could be the smoking gun that connects him to organized crime in the city. I want you all to listen to it to make sure I'm on the right track," Black Canary said, glancing at each and every one of the Arrows before her. She then walked over to the table and pulled the chair out for someone to sit on. Roy narrowed his eyes. There was far more of a casual sway to Dinah's walk than ever before. The back of his neck tingled. Something didn't seem right.
Roy was just about to step forward and ask why she couldn't have just sent the files to them individually, but again he was interrupted. This time by Speedy.
"Of course, Dinah. Anything to root out corruption in this city, even if it is the Mayor," Mia spoke, stepping forward. She had always respected and looked up to the Black Canary and would do anything for her. Speedy slipped on the headphones and pressed play on the audio file. It was a recording of the voice she instantly recognized as the Mayor of Star City, and she turned to look at Roy and Connor. She nodded her head, and listened intently.
Suddenly, something changed in the audio file. Mia could still hear the Mayor, but there was something in the background. Something she just couldn't make out. It sounded almost like music but was too soft for Speedy to understand. A slight frown appeared on her face as she strained to listen to the audio file. Little did she know that it was the music from the Kinky Kitten playing and slowly rewriting and twisting Mia's mind.
Just as it had done to Black Canary.
