One beam hit the young mutant Jubilee. The Melder had been aiming for Rogue but much to his surprise and disappointment she had unknowingly moved just enough to avoid the beam which flew into the crowd and hit a bystander: Norman Osborn! Jubilee and Osborn
smashed together and in a flash both were gone with a new person appearing in their place. A Eurasian teenage girl, anywhere in the range of 16 to 18, with short black hair wearing a distinctive yellow pantsuit that did more to add to her looks than detract.
Her features were cute yet there was an edge to them, a sinister and cunning edge.
"J-Jubilee...?" Rogue asked as she approached the girl.
"Right here, southern belle." she smiled but it was a cold one, "In a way."
"What happened? Ah saw you an' Ah think Ah saw Norman Osborn and then..."
"Two became one." she smirked, "I'm Jubilee yet I'm Norman Osborn. More correctly I'm a gestalt of the two. My name is Norma Lee." At that she shot a blast out of her hand, a brightly colored pumpkin-shaped blast that hit the ground in front of Rogue and exploded
in a bright and forceful flash. When sight returned and the smoke cleared Norma now stood on a floating Goblin Glider, a wicked grin on her face. "But you can call me the Golden Goblin! HAHAHAHAHA!"
With that Norma shot more pumpkin blasts from her hands to the assembled group distracting them as she flew off towards Oscorp. The company was hers and if the board of directors had a problem with it she would... convince them otherwise. The two beings that
existed in her made her sympathetic to the plight of mutants but now wanting to fight for that in her own way even if Xavier and his goody goody X-Men didn't. As the two landed where Norman usually brought in his glider.
Peter Parker, Spider-Man. He was a worthy foe. He was also quite handsome, someone Norma would love to end up in bed with some day. His various female compatriots like Mary Jane Watson, Carlie Cooper and Black Cat would be nice as well. But Spider-Man needed
to be stamped out. Norma could crush him as she would crush a business rival... or perhaps like other business rivals bring him into her fold. He was still a man, after all, and she was a very beautiful and very cunning young woman.

Back at the site of where the various people had gathered the Melder admired his handiwork as the self-proclaimed Golden Goblin struck off. This was amazing! But the heroes AND villains might be onto him soon. He needed a way to do his work discreetly, hidden
among their ranks. He looked at his rod and adjusted it to a setting he didn't think he'd have to use this soon but he knew he would have to test it eventually.
The setting read "Absorb" and the Melder fired one blast at himself. He know glowed a bright blue-white. The Absorb setting, he had been told, would involve shooting one person, then another. The first person shot would be absorbed into the body of the second
but they would gain control over the second person's body completely. Their looks, their memories, their powers... it was the ultimate form of melding in some ways.
Kang had told him that to use it on himself, as the owner of the rod, the Melder would essentially become one with it as he was absorbed into the person's body. He would have not only their powers but the powers of the rod would be internalized and could be
used at his command as energy blasts.
The Melder scanned the crowd. He noticed a group of kids from the West Coast: The Runaways and the teenagers being trained by Hank Pym and Tigra in the Avengers' academy for young heroes. Perhaps they were here on some kind of field trip. Nico Minoru, Karolina
Dean, Molly Hayes, Klara Prast, Julie Power, Hazmat, Finesse, X-23, White Tiger... and there was still Rogue, Mystique, Black Cat, Mary Jane, Husk and a few students such as Trance, Dust and Pixie. He weighed his options, picked his target, fired and was absorbed
into the body of...
