The face of the massive woman - a grotesque caricature of a black woman's face, with it's thick lips and very wide nose - went puzzled, and she bleated "Does yo' mean t' leave Mista Lutha? But...he luvs yo' so much. He be a good mon, Miz Lane. He make's meh awl big an' simple an' jus' as happy as yo' please. He coulda kilt meh, but he make's meh happy instead. Mista Lutha be's a saint!"

Lois though she'd go made, listening to her former husband and the worlds greatest hero nattering on with such genuine hero worship of a man who'd destroyed her. Lois snapped "Dammit, Clark...we've got to get out of here! If we can use the hidden teleporter at the Daily Planet building, we can get you to your Fortress of Solitude and use the Plastimold to change you back..."

"But dat's whut Mista Lutha used t' make meh like dis."

Lois paused, then blinked in confusion "W-w-what?"

Clarabelle smiled, and continued. "Mista Lutha used some kinda device t' make meh awl happy an' simple furst, den he tells meh t' takes him to de Fort...fortress...to dat place I usa have, den he tells meh t' gits inside de Plastimold, an' he makes meh awl big an' stuff. Den he makes meh always hungry and gibs meh lottsa really fatty foods, an' now I's way to big t' fit inside dat thin' anymo'. I's gonna be Clarabell fo'evah."

The obese black woman was clearly delighted by this idea, and she clapped her fat hands together like a happy child. She looked dreamy and contented as she said "Den he gibs meh somethin' tah makes de changes in mah brain perm..." for just a second, a look of loss and pain flickered over her face "...permanent, 'caus it's magic an' I ain'ts gots no chance 'gainst magic. He makes meh awl fertile so's I's gonna hab lots o' babies when he lets meh. Mebbe he gonna knock meh up hisself? Won't dat be nice, when I'm waddlin' round, belly fulla Luthors' babies an' jus' as happy as yo' please?"

The fact that Clarabelle was obviously happy with the idea disgusted and outraged her, but...it wasn't Supermans fault. She didn't want to hurt his feelings. But...if Luthor had the Fortress of Solitude, then what else could she do? Maybe...contact the Justice League? Maybe one of their magical members, like Zatanna? Still, she soon found that the real problem was...

"Bhut ah don' wanna leave, Miz Lutha. Ah likes bein' big, ol' Clarabelle. Mista Lutha, he likes meh as Clarabelle too. He sez "I likes watchin' you waddle aroun', shakin' dat big ass an' doin' whut'eva I sez.", an' dat's good enough fo' meh."

Lois knew she had to be strong. She had to be strong for herself, and for Clark. "Clarabelle...I, as your mistress, ORDER you to come with me as I escape this gilded cage. I ORDER YOU TO DO WHAT I SAY!"

Clarabelle looked confused, then nodded her hed - jowls and chins jiggling - and said "If dat's whut yo wants, Miz Lutha."

"And STOP calling me 'Mrs. Luthor', Clarabelle. I'm Lois Luthor. I mean...I'm Lois L-L-L-Luthor? I'm LOIS LUTHOR! Why can't I say my name? Lois Luthor! LUTHOR!"

Clarabelle beamed and laughed "Dats 'cause yo' husban' be so smart, Miz Lutha. He makes it so yo' is his wife, no matta whut. Does yo' think dat deep down inside, dat nasty ol' Supa'man ain't strugglin' an' fightin', but it don't do no good. Eveytime I tried to escape, I lost...an' a little mo' of Clarabell snuck in. Now, I's almos' awl Clarabelle inside an' out, 'cept fo' de part of meh dat luvs yo', Miz Lutha. I'll always luv yo', Lois. Dat cain't change."

Lois wanted to scream, but...it was good to hear that this...Clarabelle was still somehow her husband. Still loved her. She took a deep breath and said it again. "I'm Lois Luthor. Well...that's just fine. But I'll be a free Lois Luthor...and you're coming with me, Clarabelle."

Clarabelle nodded and followed her, feeling bad about running out on Mister Luthor, but happy to be doing the Mistresses bidding. It was only as Lois was dressing in normal outdoor clothes...when she noticed that she was bald.

Well...not quite like that. She'd known she was bald the whole time, but somehow...she'd accepted it as normal. She'd only noticed it was wrong when she realized she was dressing in a purple and green pantsuit like it was normal. In fact...all her clothes were purple and green. They...were her favorite colors, wern't they? The colors were the colors that Lex Luthor always wore...and it just seemed right. She tried to shake it off, but it kept nagging at her. She was (had always been) bald...loved purple and green...maybe she and Lex were a perfect match? And Clarabelle was so happy, it would be a shame to change her back...

Lois fought back the alien thoughts, which seemed like HER thoughts, and knew that if she was going to get help...she'd have to do it quickly.

As she left the building and slipped into a car (A large one, as Clarabelle insisted on driving) she could feel the effect lessening. Fading. Maybe it was something Luthor was broadcasting, and she was out of its range now? She hoped so...
