Quentin Quire rolled his eyes as soon as Ms Guthrie turned around to accentuate a word choice in the Dickens passage she was reading from. He'd been bored stiff the whole hour, having already lifted any interesting insights Husk might have about the subject
from her mind before the class even began. Usually he got admonished for that, but Rachel Grey seemed to be otherwise focused this afternoon. As a result, he got to sit in a room with 30 mindless drones, his 'fellow students' and listen to a hillbilly girl
act like she knew about literature, otherwise Wolverine or Captain America or Giant Man or someone would lobotomise him. Because he dared to speak out, to disagree, to tell the truth and, with a little telepathic... nudging, convince the rank and file to join
his revolution!
He turned and took in the one good thing about the new Jean Grey School. Idie. The heat manipulating girl had a curious self-loathing that should've disgusted Kid Omega, but her beauty outshone that. By which he was perfectly willing to admit that he was overlooking
her issues because she was hot in ways other than her powers! Which got him thinking. If sex could even warp his own immense, focused intellect to bypass it's normal logic, maybe the stuck-up fascists who ran things were the same. Maybe his revolution should
focus on the social, not the political change that was needed!

Later, Quire snuck into Hank McCoy's lab, having pilfered the codes and disarming protocols from a sleeping Toad. It was common knowledge than Beast was an Avenger, but didn't go on 'official' missions for them, which had piqued Quentin's interest. At first,
just because it was a sign of government interference and obstruction, but then because he reasoned a scientist of Dr McCoy's calibre must be needed on covert missions to examine sensitive materials. The kind that might make the coming change easier to affect.
And then he saw it. A sliver of something he'd read about. Not as impressive as having the whole thing, but with his own prodigious mental powers behind it... A shard of the Cosmic Cube, splintered off when Bucky Barnes was returned from his conditioned fugue,
would be just the thing. All he had to do was reach past the forcefield and... take it!
His fingers closed around it before the silent alarms went off, and his skin buzzed with the raw power...
