Setting is the time and place of a story...

 For example, in superheroes comics, the setting is usually now and a place similar to our own world but with super additions (Advance Science, Magic, Powers). However, they have from time to time experiment with changing the setting. With Marvel, you have their Noir works which match the genre of those classic movies or Marvel 1602 which changes the setting so the Age of Marvel occurs in this year (which heroes arising in ways to fit the setting).
