The Purple Man escapes and finds some friends in the X-Men.
Zebediah Killgrave a.k.a the Purple Man lay on his bed. He was in a white room with only the things necessary for him to live. He had been caught several months ago, and he had been living in a high security prison ever since. No one had dared to come near him, only behind the walls of his cell. He didn't show it, but he was angry. The heroe's always managed to outsmart him, and he always ended up getting captured. Quite a few of his partners had abandoned him too and had left him to die. He knew that if only some one could come in to his room, or he could get outside somehow, he could use his powers to escape.
The oppurtunity showed intself one afternoon. The Purple Man had just finished watching the news, which showed the Avengers saving New York once again. A guard had knocked on the glass to deliver his lunch. He stood up and stretched, everything was normal so far and he didn't know what was about to happen. The guard happened to be new to the job, and didn't know who he was dealing with. Instead of using the small hole drilled into the wall, the guard unlocked the door. He came whistling in, unprepared for what was about to happen. At first, Killgrave was shocked, a man had just strolled in to his cell for the first time in months!
However, he recovered and knew what to do. His pheromones were already working and he watched as the guard set the meal down on a table.
"Why am I in here?" Asked the Purple Man smiling.
"Uh..Um...I'm not sure sir, but you had to do something to be in this prison." The guard said nervously, he had never been asked this question by a prisoner.
"So wouldn't you say its a bit unfair to lock me up like this? I haven't done anything wrong." Killgrave said.
"I can't say sir, I don't know what you've done." The guard said, backing away.
"Just give me your keys." The Purple Man said, his pheromones were now were working like usual. It had taken them awhile to get his powerback.
The guard handed Killgrave the keys, and stood motionless wondering what to do next.
"Now shoot yourself, I don't want any witnesses." Killgrave said, then he went out of his cell and ran.
He heard a gunshot echo from his cell and smiled. Now if only he knew where to go, he could get out. He cursed at himself for not asking the guard. Then he slowed down, realizing that he had no idea where he was going at all. The sound of voices and footsteps came from the end of a hallway on his left, and he waited behind the corner. Another guard, and a young woman came walking around the corner chatting. They saw him and stopped in mid sentence. The guard reacted first, pulling his gun out.
"Stop right there! Hands up!" He said as loud as he could.
The Purple Man smiled and put his arms up, showing them he didn't have a weapon.
"Guard, I'll be needing your gun. And ma'am, if you could come with me please, I need some help getting out of here."
The guard handed him the gun trancedly. The Purple Man raised the gun, and shot him, killing him before he hit the ground. Then he strarted walking, and the woman followed him, she was smiling this time.
"Tell me woman, where am I, how do I get out, and who are you?" He said, pulling her along with him.
"I am Ms. Smith, I'm a psychiatrist here, I help to make sure the criminals are metally ok. We are in a suburd of New York city. You'll need a fingerprint scan to get out of here, the door is down this hallway." The woman said, walking purposfully.
They reached the door, and the woman scanned her hand. The door opened, and the Purple Man rushed out, the woman following him.
"Your car, now." He commanded, he wasn't out yet.
They walked to the parking structure and they got into the small car. She handed him the keys, and he sped out. She directed him to the nearest freeway and he sighed. Finally he was free! But now what? The authorities were obviously going to search after him day and night, and they knew he had taken the woman with him. The best thing to do, he thought, is to get into the city. From there he could make plans from his old hideout, and then make some calls. After a few minutes, he was in the city.
"Lady, this is where you get off. Shoot any policemen who try to come an take you." He said, handing her the gun.
Then he sped off, laughing to himself. Boy, the authorities would get a kick out of this one. Then he drove to the poorest part of the city. It was where his old base had been. They had only captured him after the heroe's had cornered him in a skyscraper. He entered through a hidden door, and looked around. His computer, which had his database still worked to his amusement. That was all he needed, he had hired a man to hack into S.H.I.E.L.D and Hydra files. As a result, he knew everything about everyone, everywhere. Everyone that is, except for some superheroes. He typed in his name, and wasn't surprised when there was an alert sign. It had already been reported that he had escaped. Then he went to sleep, tomorrow he would make his plans for revenge.
He woke up to the sound of footsteps above him. There were police officers in his hideout! He jumped up and smiled, his first challenge. The door opened, and several officers wearing masks, walked down the stairs. It took them awhile to get adjusted to the dark room, but the Purple Man wasn't waiting. He jumped on them from behind, pulling their masks off. They struggled, and got their guns ready to fire.
"Officers, don't shoot me." He commanded in a flat voice, he hoped that his pheromones were working.
They looked at each other, then lowered their guns, wondering what was going on.
"I want you to report back to your leader. Tell him that my hideout has been abandoned for several months. Tell them instead, that you think I am in Britain." They nodded and filed out, talking into their walkie-talkies.
He smiled and stretched out, getting ready for his first day as a free villain. Then he went to his computer, looking at what had gone on since he was captured. The Avengers had lost and gained several members, and his foe, Daredevil, hadn't been seen for weeks. The Fantastic Four were still in the Baxter Building, recuperating from a battle with Dr. Doom. The X-Men were busy battling Magneto on an astroid somewhere out in space. Interestingly enough, some members had stayed at the mansion to keep it safe. He sat back a smiled, some special mutants were getting a visit.
It was morning at the X-Mansion and the remaining members of the team were waking up. The mansion had gotten quieter since most of the team had gone out on a mission. But a few of them were still doing patrols, and rescuing people from thugs. They got up, and went around doing their daily tasks, and had just eaten breakfast when the doorbell rang. The Purple Man had decided to strike early, they wouldn't have been fully ready, and chances were they hadn't known he'd escaped.
Bobby Drake a.k.a the Iceman, opened the door, yawning. The Purple Man bowed, and smiled.
"Ah, hello mister Drake, may I come in?" The Purple Man asked, taking over Bobby's mind.
"Sure you can Mr. Killgrave, welcome in." Bobby said, stepping aside while the Purple Man walked in.
Zebediah looked around, he had never been in the X-Mansion before, and now he was stepping in as a conquerer. He looked around, Hydra had a map of the place, so he knew where everything was. He had also studied all the X-Men's names, and habits. Bobby would have tried to form a defensive wall if he had been ready, and the Purple Man would have countered it. He was sure that he could defeat all the X-Men since most of the team was away.
"Would you like anything mister Killgrave?" Bobby asked politely, the Purple Man's powers had made him a friend in Bobby's mind.
"I am your master Iceman, do not address me without calling me master. Play along with me for now, I need your friends to join me." The Purple Man said, walking around.
"Yes master, whatever you need." Iceman said standing still.
"Take me to the control room, I need to do somethings before proceeding." He said to Bobby.
Bobby nodded and started walking, followed by the Purple Man. They arrived outside the door and the noise of typing, and computers could be heard from the outside. Killgrave silently motioned for Bobby to be still, some one was in there. He opened the door, and walked in without making a sound. A blue, furry man was sitting on a chair, looking at a message. He sniffed, and smelled something strange. He perked up, it smelled good, he needed to know where it was coming from. He turned around, and his eyes jumped open as Killgrave stood there smiling.
"Hank McCoy if I'm not mistaken. Your now my servant, understand?" The Best nodded as if in a trance.
"Turn off all other phones and computers in this place, I don't want any calls for help getting out. I also want you to lock the mansion down, I want nobody to escape, get it?"
The Beast saluted, then turned and started typing in codes. Noises of doors locking and closing could be heard. The windows were covered with barriers, and phones were cut off. The Purple Man walked out smirking, and was followed by the Iceman. Now he was walking towards the Professor's study, he had to be taken down if the Purple Man was to achieve success. Otherwise he could send out telepathic messages to other groups for help. He opened the door, and gazed at Xavier. The professor had been communicating with his X-Men on the Astroid for several hours. He hadn't been paying attention at all to what was going on the the mansion.
The Purple Man walked up to him, and laughed. The professor opened his eyes and gaped. How had a trespasser gotten in! He tried to send a signal for help, but the Purple Man said a few commands. Then another few, and he was Killgrave's newest slave. In the depths of his mind, he knew that Killgrave could control him as long as he wanted. If Iceman was following him, and the mansion was on lockdown. Then there was only one person who could save them, Shadowcat!
The Purple Man walked triumphantly out of the office. He had taken control of the mansion within minutes, and now they all served him. Now he could find and kill his enemy the Daredevil. The mansion would be a great base for him too. He sat down and started to relax, everything had gone according to plan. Three of the teams biggest players had been taken down. The rest of them had been dealt with, he had ordered the professor to wipe their minds. They would think that they had a vacation. Then he would prepare a defense and would capture them when they returned in a few days.
Unknown to him, Kitty Pryde a.k.a Shadowcat was waking up. First she had been startled by the sound of locks and doors closing, and had figured that there was some drill going on. Then she heard a man humming below. Then she was curious about what was going on. The professor had said not to let any strangers come in, and unless this man was a friend of the team, he had somehow snuck into the mansion. Then she had heard him commanding Iceman around like he was the ruler. After a phone call failed, she had put on her X-Men uniform and had gotten ready for a battle.
Instead of taking the stairs, she phased through the floor, and landed in a classroom. She felt the professor in her mind and immediately shielded her mind. Jean Grey had taught her how to avoid the professor and herself if it was necessary. Then she crouched and phased through the side of the classroom, appearing near the control room. She quickly ran past it, and saw the Beast looking at the screen intently. His eyes seemed unfocused, and she smelled a strange sweet scent. Then she heard some one snoring from the main room. Quietly creeping towards the room, she got ready to dodge a bullet, or to run away. Kitty looked around the corner and saw Bobby standing at attention next to a strange looking man.
Kitty gasped, it was the Purple Man! She had never dealt with him before, but knew that he was dangerous. She realized that he had taken control of her teammates and gasped. Phasing through the wall, she planned to reappear behind Bobby. She planned to knock him out, then take care of the villain. However, right after she appeared behind Bobby, she smelled the Purple Man's pheromones. She smiled to herself, it felt relieving and calming as she was enveloped by his powers. She sighed to herself, then realized what she was doing. She had been trained by Wolverine, and had a stronger will and mind then the other X-Men.
Her footsteps woke up the Purple Man within seconds. His eyes snapped open, and he heard another footstep, it couldn't be any of his slaves, he had commanded them to remain where they were, and do his tasks. He stood up and turned, and saw the heroine Shadowcat. She stood there, holding Bobby's neck in a tight grasp.
"Surrender, or I kill him." She said through gritted teeth.
He laughed at her, "Ah my girl, do I care if you kill him? He's your teammate, but he's a slave to me. Go ahead and kill him, it won't change anything." He said grinning.
She slowly let go, realizing what an advantage the Purple Man had. Then she phased, and tried to run away, it was her best chance.
"Stop where you are Shadowcat." He commanded.
She stopped running and stood still, she groaned as she realized that he had taken her.
