Pheromones: The Purple Man and Persuasion possess the superhuman power to sap people's wills, making them able to command people with a simple verbal suggestion. Their power originates in the skin cells. The sites of pheromone production of the pheromones and other secretions in their skin produce numerous psychoactive chemicals which can be inhaled by another person in her vicinity or absorbed from the air though that person's skin. The chemicals thereupon induce in that individual an overwhelming monomania that deprives him or her of any will of his or her own. The Purple Man and Persuasion can simultaneously subjugate as many people as are present with atmospheric contact.

Killgrave was a spy working for Soviet bloc assigned to invade an American Army ordinance and steal an experiemental gas. The canister of nerve gas Killgrave was carrying was shot by a guard and the contents drenched him and dyed his skin. When caught, Killgrave gave a weak excuse for his actions and his excuse was believed. After several more coincidences, Killgrave learned that he now had the ability to command people's wills.
Killgrave used his powers to get people to do his dirty work. This is how he met up with Daredevil and they've been enemies ever since. Killgrave seemingly met his demise at the hands of Namor, the Sub-Mariner, when Namor and the Avengers destroyed Doctor Doom's psycho prism, a device that manipulated Killgrave's abilites for Doom. A few week later, wanting to know who her father and what he was like, his daughter, Kara, accidently caused his resurrection. With is powers only working on the dead at first, he re-emgerance in New York has proved his powers once again work on the living.
Note: When the Purple Man returned in X-Man #34, Marvel accidentally reffered to him as Zachariah instead of Zebediah. Also, in X-Man #36, Marvel said he was a mutant (which he isn't).

Name: Kara Killgrave
Appearances:
- Alpha Flight #41, #42, #43, #44, #45, #46, #47, #48, #49, #52, #55, #62, #110, #111, #112, #114
The Purple Girl, or Persuasion, is the daughter of the infamous Purple Man and a woman he manipulated via his powers to love
him.But he released her once she was pregnant and Kara's mother left the notorious Purple Man. Kara in her early adolescents
onefound herself turning purple and discovered that although she did not have her fathers exact powers she did have the ability
to control others through pheromones. Perhaps a little power mad she took control of the conceited man's hero Northstar and
somehow managed to find herself inducted into Beta Flight.
When the team broke up she moved back home with her mother bringing along the Dean twins, Laura and Goblyn. The three
were reactivated during the Quest for Northstar and she finally found a better code name in the form of Persuasion. She stayed
with the team until the final breakup of the classic Alpha Flight. It is assumed that she and the Dean twins moved back with
Kara's mom and have yet to be heard from again.

A note from this page's creator: I first started collecting comics in October, 1986. They were introduced to me by my Art teacher as a great source of inspiration for drawing and other Art related crafts. Alpha Flight #41 (volume 1) was one of my first comics (and the first comic I ever saw with mind control) and it really took me a while to understand how powerful Kara really was simply because her body produced a chemical capable of control others. As I look back at this time, I see this comic, as well as her father's appearance in Emperor Doom within the next couple of years, developed the facination I have with controlling the mind and those that do it.
