“You sure this is a good idea?” Zatanna asked. “I mean, going undercover is one thing, but there?”

“Matches is too well known, and this club is a front for something hitting the street,” Bruce continued to putter on the Batcave computer as hespoke. “We need someone on the inside.”

For the past few months, a new set of drugs had been hitting the streets. Any analysis of the compound came back inconclusive, but whateve rit was acted like Venom – only with a high. Instead of just getting buff, LadyLuck (the street name) seemed to make you stronger, faster, and give off an  euphoric aura to it. More than once, he’d stopped a group of thugs barreling throughs tores just because they could. No money was taken, no jewelry or anything ofvalue. Just for the ‘feel of it.’

“But you can’t get a snitch?”

“Not enough time,” Batman grunted. “So, you going to help me, or not?”

“Yeah, I mean, of course,” she said.  “Now?”

“Everything is covered for the time being,” he said as he kept working. “Superman is aware of this, but no one else within the League. Nightwing as well, but currently he is unreachable.”

“What about Red Robin and Batgirl?” Zatanna asked. Finally,Bruce closed out of whatever he was working on. She was starting to get the feeling he would always find something else to work on. Well, most guys would if they had this gig.

“Not right now,” he said. “If this mission is ongoing, then maybe. But with some luck, it will be finished within the week.”

“Just be aware, your body will only take a change maybe once a week, but we’ll have to see how it handles it.”

“Understood.” Bruce removed his cowl, showing off that handsome face of his. Zatanna returned his smile, silently thinking about how that face was about to be replaced with something a little more…feminine.

“You going to change out of that?” she waved at his suit. “I’d hate to ruin it.”

“Was planning on it.” He said. As he moved away from the computer, a series of papers began to print out of it. With his back turned,Zatanna took the moment to snoop.

The papers were all about Bruce’s new identity – a lovely young woman named Ginger Malone (He really couldn’t stay away from that last name). Some petty crimes, nothing big, but she was barely legal, like eighteen last month if the documents were right. Knowing Bruce, they were, and it would make  it easier for him, or rather for Ginger to get into the club. The other papers included an apartment, probably decked out with Batgear for ‘safety’ reason; asmall, but reasonable bank account (and access codes for other accounts); andthe paperwork for a badly used vehicle.

All and all, not bad, but she’d definitely be putting her own twists in his tale. Whether he liked it or not (or knew about it).

“Look good?” Zatanna spun back to see Bruce now standing in a loose t-shirt and sweatpants.

“Okay,” she said with a small grin. “Ready?”

“I guess.” He fidgeted a bit in place, finally showing the nerves. Before he could say or do anything else, she took the plunge.
