Serpentor and The Baroness had arrived at the most recent secret lab of Doctor Mindbender, as the latter had been missing for weeks in the same locations. They entered something which looked like a hurricane had gone through it. Pictures of previous cobra mind control devices or techniques, their schematics, pictures of brain scans, and so on. In the middle of it Mindbender was sketching out something on the computer, crying out, "I have it. I have it."
"What do you have Mindbender, which would cause you to AVOID MY COMMANDS FOR YOUR APPEARANCE BEFORE ME! And will it prevent me from feeding you to my pets?" asked the Cobra Emperor as he looked at the scientist. Mindbender was growing stubble, his clothes wrinkled and an smell starting to build.
"My Lord... Sorry, Serpentor and forgive me but I think it will. I have been trying to perfect Cobra's mind control techniques and technologies. The good news is all of our mind control devices are effective. For a time... Which made me ask why? The answer when it came to me was simple and beautiful as well." explained the handlebar mustached man.
"So what is the problem, Doctor Mindbender?" asked the Baroness, filing away the information.
"The reason is twofold, but we basically make people do things they don't want to do as well as allow them the option of breaking free. The cure is simple, make them want to do what we want and make them not want to break the mind control. Which is not easy when most of our technologies are meant to cause obedience by causing pain. But pain is not the only method of changing behaviour.... pleasure can be just as effective.
Which is why I have been modifying, inventing and reinventing my schemes for mind alterations. I have several methods to choose from already. I merely need to test my theories on human guinea pigs." continued Mindbender, showing some of his work.
The Baroness then gave an interesting suggestion, "Why not test it on some valuable hard-to-crack test subjects? We use some of the resources we were going to liquidate anyway to be used as a trap for the Joes. Lure them with a rumour or a so called leak with Cobra. Then we test it on them. If we fail, no big loss. If we succeed, we will have control over the minds of some of the Joes."
"Yes, this might be of interest. Baroness, Mindbender, you are in change of this. Test and report anything of value. Improve our power of dominance over all. THIS I COMMAND!" spoke the Leader, as he looked at the plans.
