Two Weeks Later........
Diana Prince closed her apartment door and headed for the front door. She was actually looking forward to a day at the office. The past few weeks had been furious! It was as if Wonder Woman was needed every other hour! It was nothing she couldn't handle but she was feeling exhausted and hoped today would bring a semblance of normality. Closing her building door behind her, she paused, closing her eyes and feeling the warn July sun on her face.
Her brief moment of relaxation was interrupted by the scream of a young boy. Diana turned and could see two thugs chasing a young boy, he was no more than seven years old. The boy darted towards an abandoned warehouse that was scheduled for demolition, with surprising agility he clambered through a half boarded up window. One of the thugs was carrying a crowbar and had quickly broken through the boarded up window. "Great Hera! So much for a quiet morning" exclaimed Diana. Glancing to her right and left she started to spin and in seconds was in her familiar guise as Wonder Woman. She was at the warehouse in seconds, crashing through the window, she spotted the thugs, they had the boy and were bundling him into the back of a truck in the loading bay. "Hold it!" Shouted Diana floating to her feet in front of the thugs and resting her hands on her hips. "Let the boy go and I'll go easy on you two"
"Get her!" exclaimed one of them, as his partner charged at Diana with his crowbar held in the air. She made short work of him and then noticed the other thug slipping something over his mouth and nose. "What the....." was all Wonder Woman got out before the dock started filling with gas.....
From behind her, six or seven more thugs appeared crowbars in hand and breathing apparatus on. Diana was feeling the effects of the gas and although sluggish she was able to dispense of the added men, albeit slower than normal. Feeling unsteady on her feet she reached down to one of the unconscious men and grabbed the small protective mask, placing it over her nose and mouth she grabbed another one for the boy.
Still groggy, she approached the truck and pulled off one of the back doors. "It's O.K" she said to the terrified boy as she held out a mask, "put this on and I'll get us out of here"
The boy eyed Diana suspiciously and whistled. At the whistle the mask Diana was wearing and the one in her hand sprayed out a green mist. Diana threw the mask from her face but it was too late....she fell to one knee as the toxins invaded her body. The little boy cocked his head and approached the heroine. "Don't worry pretty lady" he said "the men in the warehouse and I have been immunised from the effects of the gas"
"But......" Wonder Woman whispered.
"Sssssssh" said the little boy putting his finger to her lips. He pulled out an object covered in brown paper from his bag and carefully unwrapped it. He was holding a red crystal skull. "Now look at this for me Wonder Woman" She tried to turn her head, to struggle but the drugs were strong. As her eyes locked on the skulls empty eyes it began to glow............
The boy giggled and lifted the heroines lasso from her waist. "We'll need this for later" he said as he placed it in his satchel. All the while the skull grew brighter and brighter..............it was as if it was pulling her deeper and deeper into it. The skull continued to get brighter and brighter and Wonder Womans mind felt like it was being pulled from her. The room exploded into red light and when the light faded it was Diana Prince not Wonder Woman who was in front of the boy. Carefully placing the skull back into his satchel he approached Diana. "Excuse me Miss? I was just wondering. Who are you?"
Diana felt the ground opening up underneath her and adjusted her glasses....."My name is Diana Prince" she said before collapsing onto the floor unconscious.
