Clara basked in the incredibly warm sun. She felt her child move inside her, perhaps in response to the intense midday heat. As she stretched catlike on the blanket, she felt the not entirely unexpected touch of Lex's hands on her naked back.
"mmmm, that feels nice."
"God, you just glow with beauty. You're more beautiful now than ever."
As Lex massaged her, Clara felt herself slip off into unconsciousness. I've got to get to the daily planet, Lois needs me. Metropolis needs me.
"Metropolis needs me." she muttered half asleep
"What was that, sweetie?"
"Huh." She wrinkled her nose briefly and then opened her eyes "I must have been dreaming..."
Still she felt vaguely unsettled, what had she been dreaming about?
