Kitty nodded, not understanding completely.
"But my existence seems to be driving everyone into a frenzy. And there's the more important question of how it happened in the first place. I'm thinking of hunting down the creep that did it and have him reverse it..."
"But you'd... die?" Kitty asked, seeing Jan's serious expression. The fused X-man only shrugged.
"Being alive for a short while beats not being alive at all, and if it's for everyone's good..."

Meanwhile, across the city, Spider-Man was webslinging around with a determined purpose. He had learned of MJ's disappearance after she failed to show up for their meeting, and Spidey was now frantically looking for clues. The last thing he knew was that MJ
and Felicia Hardy were going to do lunch together. While Peter trusted Felicia to not do anything stupid, it was still possible something unexpected had happened. Maybe one of her old enemies had gone after the Black Cat and MJ had ended up in the crossfire?
But no, neither woman was at any hospital in the city. Spidey had picked up a lead, some other patrons at the diner had seen two weirdly dressed individuals lurking around before Felicia Hardy and Mary Jane had vanished in a flash of light. Probably supervillains
of some kind, Spider-Man reasoned. Maybe worse, one who knew his secret identity, like Norman Osborn. But no taunting messages had arrived, no clues for where to find MJ...
Spidey had no choice but to keep webslinging around, hoping to pick up a lead from some underworld stooge or a trace.
