Meanwhile, in the 'cooking' mind of Superman...
Lorelei's mind control machine had a number of phases. The first
phase was to scan the brain, using extremely sensitive scanners. It
detected the electrical impulses and chemicals which stored thoughts,
memories and feelings. It even used photos or videos of people known to
have encountered Superman to gauge reactions for recording. Once a
virtual map of Superman's mind was copied, then began phase two.
Phase two started to reprogram the alien's mind. Reconnecting
elements using hypnosis, subliminals and more. While no chemical could
be injected into him, a gaseous hypnotic cocktail for drugs was being
breathed in by him. The computer had helped Ms. Ambrosia to detect the
landing of fragments of Krypton, or Kryptonite. It wasn't green, but
hopefully it would help with what she was trying to do when mixed with
the drug.
Part of phase two was to take images and video of Lorelei Ambrosia,
and implanted thoughts and feelings connected to that. Trust, Love,
Lust, Loyalty, Devotion, and whatever else was needed to make him her
love slave. It dug up memories of his time with Lorelei with an
electronic impulse, changing and adding different context. Favouring the
sexual, seduction she had with him when he was bad with positive
connections, while adding negative ones when he regained his good
nature. Like so...
Phase three was a scanning of the changes, seeing how deeply settled
in was the new mind alterations. The information was compiled, then the
computer calculated the number of times it needed to repeat phase two
and three. This was phase four. It also added a number it calculated on
how many extra runs were needed for Kryptonians. Plus a set of repeats,
just to be sure the information set in.
Fortunately, the programming didn't take long, and on a human could
take a few minutes. The fact Superman was taking hours was just based on
the need to make sure it stuck... permanently. However, the machine
came with countdown time, which added and/or subtracted time based on
effectiveness. And as Lorelei looked, the countdown was at one minute
and getting shorter.
