Lex Luthor had also provided Mercy with a device that locked-on to J'Onn J'Onzz's martian signature, allowing her to track him down.
The Martian Manhunter was relaxing, watching tv, in his mortal identity in his apartment, when suddenly a huge cloud of smoke filled the room.
He coughed, weakened by the fiery smoke, and collapsed to his knees, transforming back into his martian form.
Mercy's stiletto boots clicked as she strutted into the room. She held her whip in one hand and her elegant cigarette in the other. She took another puff and exhaled a cloud of weakening smoke.
"Time to play," Mercy grinned as she cracked her whip.

After sending off the newly-minted marriage-wrecking minx, Lex Luthor turned to Gotham.
Robin would give him access to Batman, allowing Lex Luthor to take down a dangerous threat and gain his wealth. But perhaps Oracle was the bigger concern right now.
