Deep beneath the town, in its mystic prison, the Entity
stirred. For centuries it had lain dormant, waiting for the right circumstances
to burst free from its bonds and rise to the surface once more.
It had come to Earth thousands of years ago, drifting through
the void between Universes, seeking what it needed – life-forms advanced enough
to indulge consciously in the sort of vices that it drew its power from. When
it came to this world, the ripe stench that the primitive humanoids gave off
was unmistakable. It knew it had found a prime place to call home, at least
until it had been drained every drop of potential from it.
Bt no sooner had the Entity begun to manipulate and
influence some of the humanoids, than it had been tracked down by a group of
incredibly powerful beings who had some ridiculous notions of morality. After a
brief conflict, the Entity was seized and imprisoned. It was too powerful for
the meddling beings to destroy, but they were able to create a mystic prison
that would hold it fast, possibly forever. They placed it deep beneath the
surface, and placed a series of stone idols at regular intervals above its
prison, partly as a warning to other higher beings about what lay below, but
also to focus the energy that held the Entity in place.
Denied its nourishment, the Entity fell into a deep slumber,
but part of its consciousness reached out, and was able to continue to
influence the pitiful mortals who dwelt above, a least within a short range.
And so, the coven of its worshippers had formed. As they
indulged in the kinds of activity that nourished it, its consciousness began to
revive, slowly. It was able once again to inhabit the minds and bodies of those
who fell under its influence, and draw power from their carnal activities.
These humans were pathetic, but yet they indulged their vices with such
incredible zest that the power it gave off was primal and pure.
The Entity’s strength grew. It came to realise that in order
to escape its prison, it would need to find the perfect avatar who could become
a vessel for its consciousness, and then it would be able to walk free on the
Earth. It might then find a way to destroy the idols and break the chains that
bound it to this world. If not, it would be bound to the mortal form and the
limitations that came with it, but that would be preferable to this half-life
of imprisonment.
It bided its time.
Now, after waiting impatiently for centuries, it sensed the
presence of a perfect candidate. Through close contact with one of the idols, this
woman’s mind had brushed against the Enity’s, and it was able to fasten upon it
and begin to influence, and feed. This Susan Storm-Richards was gifted with an
incredibly powerful, cosmically enhanced body that would make her ideally
suited, but she also possessed a strong character, a powerful mind and a deep
well of unfulfilled carnal desire that she was barely aware of. She was
perfect!
Using it’s influence on the humans who served it in the town
above, drawing power from their worship and their carnal rites, the Entity
would use them to complete the necessary process to put Susan fully in its
power. Things were progressing well…
