This is what Batman tells himself over and over again, as he denies himself much to continue to avenge his parents death by eliminating crime. Both as Bruce Wayne by changing the social factors which cause people to fall to the easy money of crime, and as
Batman the avenger who removes the cancer of criminals from the streets. Which was why he had forbidden himself much to continue with the mission.
He had forbidden himself having a family, save Alfred, which could be a distraction or weakness. Yet over time he had gained one, which while had been the above at times were also a benefit and a strength in the mission and in his life.
Another thing which he had forbidden in his life was a long term, stable romance. Yes he dated and had sexual relationships with women... but he allowed few of them to remain in a stable romance with him which could last long term. Even his relationship with
Catwoman, which was his most stable, was erratic and random which could self-destruct at any time.
So Batman had kept all romance, love, lust and sex forbidden for more then a moment of relief from the mission. However, Batman should have known better. Even if he didn't want to have a love affair more then a series of flings, he should have seen the fact
the women he went with might have a different idea about that. Plus the world they live in with advance science and great magic, they had the method to make their plans come true...
