Disguised as Black Canary and Lady Blackhawk, Proteus and Jodi entered an elevator.
“You better let me do the talking,” said Proteus.
“Shore t’ing boss.”
Her accent reminded him why he wanted to do the talking.
Even with all his years as a master of deception, he couldn’t believe that the two of them had simply walked into the Gotham clock tower. The identi-factor was so perfect, it allowed them to pass retinal scan, fingerprint analysis, and voice recognition.
How Jodi had learned the passwords was a mystery, but they were in. It was so easy, Proteus wondered it he (currently she) should have gone straight for the justice league.
There plan was to go for Barbara Gordon, thus crippling information networks in the superhero community. When they reached the main tower, Barbara was talking to Nightwing. “This changes nothing,” Proteus whispered. “Just consider him extra practice.”
Nightwing turned to the two ladies. “Oh Dinah. I thought you were in Metropolis.”
Why would she be in Metropolis? Acting on a hunch, Black Canary / Proteus responded.
“I may have a lead on Superman’s disappearance. This is a piece of enemy tech we captured. It’s fueled by kryptonite.” She held up the identi-factor.
“Oh, a weapon of some sort. Let me see.” Nightwing put his face right up against the barrel. Proteus couldn’t resist the opening. Even though the device had a program he’d intended to use on Oracle, the villain fired.
As she saw this Barbara discretely slipped a batarang out from her shirt sleeve.
In Metropolis, Lulu was fussing over Claire’s makeup.
“Now remember, Mr Luthor is paying extra cause he wants to be the first to pop your cherry.”
“You do have your cherry right.”
“Try not to bleed to much on his clean sheets.”
Lulu smiled at, Claires reaction. even after all her lessons, Lulu could still make the girl blush once in a while.
