In the world of Superhero Comics and most other fiction save Fantasy, Technology is dominate while magic (if used) is secondary. In these settings, it is the reverse. For examples... While Lex Luthor and Tony Stark are masters of science and technology which allows them to build machines to aid them in the regular order... in this new scene, they are master wizards who are able to build mighty enchanted items. Mutants, mutates and metahumans... instead of gaining their powers from radiation, genetics or such... gain it from mystical energies changing them and their bodies with it's unknown powers. Or inheriting the internalized magical powers absorbed by their ancestors. Aliens are more like mystical races like elves, dwarves and lizardpeople. Mystical beings like gods, demons, angels and so on are now powerful alien beings who use advance technology for their powers. Just as 'legendary' scientists like Dr. Strange and Dr. Fate use the lost art of science for their own purposes. New York (as well as it's counterparts like Metropolis and Gotham City) is more like a fantasy castle fortress city then modern skyscrapper realms. So what addventures away a world where science and magic switch places?
