I am a fan of details. It is what draws people in to the story. If everyone writes short clips, then it is more like role playing. That being said, even in role playing there is someone that is setting the stage or it gets boring fairly fast.
Now the people that write short clips have their place too. Sometimes they offer great ideas. Sometimes they jumpstart a story that reached a crossroad without a clear vision.
I also over write. I do have a theory as to why I do. Frankly when you have a vision of where you want the story to go, you take it there. If it is a reasonable next step you don't leave it to others who may or may not share that vision. However, when one lives in the details, some very simply stated chapter options tend to lead to lengthy set up to get there. (That and as a child the 'good sisters' beat me with a thesaurus until I couldn't say hello without a full soliloquy) Just my 2 cents.
