Justice League Venom Crisis, brainstorming.

by Gorel - 12/21/2013 7:08 PM

I believe there's been a couple questions about how Bane's venom actually functions and how people react to it.

In all fairness there has been NO record of a woman using it but for men who have the process is apparently painful and physically traumatic with the skeleton shifting to make room for more muscles as they pile on but the change is VERY quick, just a few seconds. The results of the muscle growth and expansion can be reversed just as quickly once the drug has burned out of the person's system which is why Bane uses such a large supply at any given time. Side effects of when the drug wears off is the person suffers withdrawal symptoms, acid trip like hallucinations and in prolonged exposure deteriorated muscles. (skin and bones)

Surprisingly Venom causes no hormonal imbalances that normal steroids do to the human body such as uncontrolled rage, mood swings, acne, impotence, etc.

If this new strain of Venom is the product of Ivy's manipulations, it is entirely plausible that she made the initial batches inside her with her control of toxicology.  Injecting herself with Venom would mean that her body would automatically create an anti-venom agent.  By selecting the agents needed to stop the grotesque nature of the Muscle growth, you would have a sleeker more stream lined Bane.  And add organic mind control pheromones to the mix and Ivy would have herself an obedient muscleman as her puppy.  Add in the right hormones and you make the Justice League users obedient, lusty, and physically perfect.

Just my insanity.

Poison Ivy would be naturally immune to venom but the transformations were never grotesque, merely painful. The titan formula which was a derivative of venom caused gruesome and disturbing transformations but that was intentional after Joker tampered with its mixture.

It should also be noted that Poison Ivy's mind control spores have an unusual quirk. Although they effect the victim's decision making abilities their core personality, morals and methods remain completely intact. Making her spores less of a 'mind' control and more of a 'suggestion' control.

Spoiler Alert:

For example in the graphic novel Hush Poison Ivy used a cocktail of her spores laced with kryptonite dust to make Superman her pet. But when she sent him to kill Batman after he snuck into her lair Superman was incapable of doing so because it was against his nature, instead he tried to either incapacitate or injure Batman enough to no longer be a threat to her. The psychiatrist hired to analyze her in Arkham asylum was easily manipulated by her spores and kiss, sending her potted plants by request and claiming he loved her despite being married. Yet he was unwilling to let her out or disobey the rules on contraband by letting her keep the plants. He was found four days later on the outskirts of the asylum suffering from dehydration and hunger after he was told to "Leave her alone and get lost."

I remember the Hush book.  I was just thinking in type.  Maybe...

Having the girls "go forth and spread the joy" wouldn't be a complete contradiction of character.  Hay think of them as the desiple addicts and have them go forth as spread the "joy."

Happy to edit mine for the next person if it makes things easier :)

Anyway, to explain the thinking behind my own chapter, in the previous one by Gorel we have Poison Ivy saying "Oh and don't think you have a choice in the matter either, my pheromones make it that you do as I say... To a degree." I assumed that meant she believed the Birds of Prey would do roughly as she said though they were free on how to do and it how to rationalise it.

On the other hand Batgirl can make Venom and can possibly remove the pheromones from what she makes. For that reason she needs to be treated differently and her mind kept on a tighter leash.

Finally, I just liked Ivy sending someone to 'rescue' Harley and it wasn't like Nightwing was doing anything else. Again though he needs something a bit extra since he's a present from Ivy and Harley doesn't have pheromones. On the other hand Ivy again doesn't care as to how he does it.

As to the properties of the Venom it seems clear that either because of what Ivy has done or because of its innate effects on women that it lowers or destroys inhibitions. Look what Babs (later and the rest of the Birds) did with Dick Grayson and how Batgirl doesn't seem to have any regrets even when the Venom has worn off.

What to post the ideas in the Forum. Also do you have suggestion for the Harley Infinity Gem/Wishing rock?
Gone Rampant - 4/11/2015 11:46 AM
I've a few ideas. I left it where it was so that if someone wanted to take Widow using the Infinity Gems in another direction, they had a launch pad.
C.King - 4/11/2015 8:42 AM
Gone Rampant... you have the build up. Any idea for the afterward?
Gone Rampant - 4/11/2015 6:14 AM
The chapter I just added to Infinity Gem Madness was inspired by a recent episode of Avengers Assemble, where Natasha winds up using the Gems.

I made a post on the Message Board for Addventure on how to add images to the Addventure.
