The secret of being a fundamental force of the universe is the fact you exist as multiple forms at the same time being one. So Eros was able to shift from one reality to another by merging/switching with another version of himself. The benefit of this was the fact Eros could entertain new and exciting worlds, creating unusual pairings which would not usually be made.
