Goliath stared at the rock in his hands, frowning at it. Of all the things that he expected to happen to him on his patrol, getting beaned by a rock from space was not one of them. He examined it, dusting it off, and found the writing on the side of it.
“Magic,” Goliath growled, his eyes glowing. He clenched his massive fist around it, preparing to destroy it. Sensing this, the semi-sentient rock, alarmed,immediately began to fill Goliath's mind with calming feelings,making him doubt that destroying the rock would eliminate its power.
Goliath hesitated, and decided to just pocket the stone for now. He shook his head and continued his patrol. The wishing rock, meanwhile, began to pick through Goliath's thoughts, looking for interesting things to make him wish for.
His main focus seemed to be on a human woman named Elisa Maza. She was as virtuous as he was, but with a more modern practicality that Goliath lacked. Also in his thoughts was a female gargoyle named Demona. She was a bit more interesting to the rock, having genocidal thoughts towards humanity to mask he rown guilt over the near genocide of her own race, which was mostly her fault. At least, that's how Goliath was seeing it. He greatly preferred Elisa over Demona now, but one doesn't forget their first love.
And, without any sort of prompting from the rock, Goliath made a wish.
“I just wish... I just wish,sometimes, that I didn't have to worry about Demona wanting to kill Elisa...” he said, flashing back to an incident earlier in the evening where Demona had tried to kill Elisa in the midst of a plan to wipe out humanity.
If the rock was sentient enough to feel humor, it would have giggled. That wish left things delightfully open to interpretation...
