Batman fell to his knees, his head hanging low.  He finally understood what Ivy had been trying to tell him all these years.  She was never a villain.  Ivy was simply trying to defend her precious plants.  If anything, he was the villain of the story!

He felt ill.  What a fool he had been for standing in Ivy's way.  Not only that, but his alter-ego of Bruce Wayne and the entire Wayne family hadn't cared for plant life in the slightest.  Now, as the plants still called out to him in near-defeaning distress, Batman finally realized what he must do.

The Dark Knight took off his gloves and saw that his skin had taken on a fully light green color, the same as Ivy's.  His eyes grew wide in excitement at these changes.  The plants still called out to him, but now a mad grin pulled at the corners of his mouth.  He balled his hands into fists and could see dark green veins revealing themselves to the changed hero.  The newly enlightened hero did feel strong.  Stronger than he had ever felt as The Batman.  Then, he recalled what Ivy had said.

"You will soon control more than your mere mortal body.  You'll have all of nature's gifts at your hands...You are like a god!  You are a Mother of Nature, connected to all of her gifts.  You will soon feel such divinity coursing through you!"

Yes!  A thrill ran up his spine at the prospect of all that Ivy, in her divine wisdom, would teach him.  She had already opened up his eyes to a vast new world he never realized existed.  Ivy was right.  She would show him the way.  She would show him how to become so much more than he already was.

He lifted his hands to his cowl and slipped it off of his head.  It was a symbolic shedding of his identity as the fearsome Batman.  He didn't know what new identity Ivy had in store for him, but he vowed he would never wear the cape and cowl ever again.  Opening his eyes, which now almost glowed green, the former Batman looked up at Ivy with a new awed devotion.

"Bruce Wayne?  The Batman?" Ivy grinned, taking his head in her hands.  She slowly stroked his cheeks and his black hair, which was beginning to show flecks of a deep red beginning to show.

"I am whoever you wish me to be," the man said, nuzzling his face into her touch, "I am yours."

Ivy wore a domineering grin.  Things were working out better than she had ever imagined, "Yes!  You will join me in our fight, child.  Rejoice, my daughter!  Embrace your glorious fate!"

"Yes, Ivy!  Yes!" the groveling former hero cried out, tears streaming down his face.  The pulse of the ground beneath him, the deafening screams of the plants, the weight of the understanding that everything was living was still too much for him and he couldn't wait to get started.  There was just one thing he that confused him.  The former feared crimefighter worked up the strength to ask the divine Mother Nature before him a question.

"Ivy...wh...why d...do you c...call me...child.  Why do you keep calling me daughter?"
