Princess Aurora was cursed before she was even born, her parents strong believers in the power of magic threw a gallant celebration when after 15 years of trying, the Queen of the Land was able to conceive. The sent out invitations
to all the mystics and fairies and asked that they might bless the child. Every powerful magic user but one, a vile and malevolent Fairy that liked to play horrible tricks upon the people. When she learned that she had been snubbed in such a manner, she was
enraged and decided to crash the party. Her power was so great that even with all those powerful in the Art in the room, everyone of them hesitated from drawing her attention to themselves.
Fearing a cruelty, the King demanded that the Fairy leave as she had not been invited. The Fairy agreed that this was so and said that she had only stopped by to give her own blessing to the child. That if the child ever touched
a spinning wheel before her 21st birthday, she would prick her finger and die. The King and Queen wept when the Fairy left just as quickly as she arrived.
Too powerful of a curse to be completely removed, the Fairies promised that she would not die but only sleep. For two decades the King and Queen hid their daughter in hopes that Malevolent would lose interest and forget the insult
to her. She did not and on the night before Aurora's 21st birthday, Malevolent was able to trick the girl into pricking her finger at the last moment.
However, Aurora's curse had been twisted by the opportunistic demons and when she pricked her finger she did not fall asleep. The kingdom rejoiced that the evil had been avoided and a great festival was thrown in celebration of
the Princess that was to last a week. Spirits were high, but after three days, those who were closest to the Princess and in charge of dressing her, preparing her meals, and instructing her on her duty as a Princess felt a lethargy enter them. It became harder
and harder to be around the Princess as they felt their desire to perform any action start to leave them.
Aurora was quite understanding, “Just so much happening, its alright if you take a break. I promise that I'll won't punish you for such behavior.”
On her fourth day since becoming a Princess, Aurora felt quite pleased with everything that had happened. She no longer needed to fear for her life, and far from threatening her life, Aurora had felt a new power after she had pricked
her finger. Aurora didn't want to tell anyone until she had figured it out. A maid walked in and placed a pitcher of lemonade for the Princess to cool herself off in this unseasonable heat and feeling adventurous Aurora grabbed the maid's hand to thank her
for her service.
Aurora gasped as she experienced the maid's hopes and dreams before breaking contact with the girl. Aurora felt like a million gold pieces and gasped as she saw the maid's body had become a faded gray. Drained of her will, Aurora
soon discovered that the Maid had no wish to move from that spot and just wanted to lay down to sleep. Aurora promised the maid she could but first she must do only what her new Princess asked. The maid nodded her head like a zombie.
Aurora was looking forward to this.
